SYD or SYD THA KID.

Born Sydney Bennet, from Los Angeles. Is an American alternative R&B, neo soul singer-songwriter, record producer, and DJ. Syd is apart of the alternative hip-hop group Odd Future and is a lead singer in the group The Internet a soul and R&B collective group made up of 5 members including Syd herself.

The group themselves have released three albums, I myself am not familiar with their first album release, however the last two releases I do know very well. I can certainly say if you're looking for something new and different to listen to this groups music is nothing other than, refreshing funky soulful and satisfying to listen too. The soft soothing vocals accompanied by the playful layered beats and instruments in their music is one of a kind. This is the vibe she carried on with her to her debut solo album release. Where she truly flexes her vocal ability and range. Their style of music reminds me of a young Pharrell Williams, with his funky beats and crisp vocals and smooth writing. If you like his old stuff you'll enjoy this revival of that style of music with both Syd's solo album and the Internets three albums.

The album is defiantly a strong debut, and there is more to expect from the group and from Syd herself if she continues to go solo. Her inventive songwriting and magnetic personality, is what leaps at you from your speakers so I'd personally like to see another solo album. Fin, is just the beginning of her promising solo career.
