New EP. The Future is Now

FORTUNES.

These guys have been on the top of my artists to watch list, and they have killed it with every song that they have released.

Not many people will have heard of Fortunes and it is often quite difficult to find any information on them on the inter-web. Nonetheless their music in my opinion, is some of the best stuff I have heard in the last two years from new coming artists.

The band from Melbourne is only a part of the continuously growing scene out there. The first track that got me hooked to this group was their track Keeper which features on their debut EP Hoodies which came out in 2015. The production on this is just a killer, the gritty groovy vibe meshed with some straight up thick bass-line. It is so raw and fresh. There is an electronic feel to the song as well, and the vocals bring a very soulful soothing R&B feel which elevates the track. This is a much similar feel with all their tracks. For me this is their best track, it is a great way to open your debut EP. It gets the heads turned and people bangin their heads to your tracks.

I have been raving about them ever since then. I officially jumped on the Fortunes band waggon and have been waiting patiently for all their latest music. In 2016, they came out with Jacket the EP and 3 singles.

Out of all that was released I was more in-tune with their tracks, 501’s, About You (Fortunes Remix), Justin Bieber, and Energy. Those selected tracks for me were just unreal, it took their game to another level. I find that there is always just that one song that you keep finding yourself repeating time and time again and these guys create those tracks time and time again, that are so endlessly playable. The combination that they have they have is a killer, one of a kind. The deftly-produced production and the emotionally-rich vocals are on point and flawless. Each track is upbeat and the sound flows with an innate groove.

This collaboration between producer Barnaby Matthews and vocalist Conor McCabe, whom are both originally from New Zealand is a class act. Fortunes. are for sure the future of music scene of Australia and without a doubt deserve to be given a lot of attention. Fortunes. have now released their latest EP Undress which is already a banger. Following the same mould with the other EP’s with its layered soundscapes of thick bass-lines and electronic vibe with the production. Combined with the intimate R&B vocals again create an exceptional EP. My favourite track on the new EP is Hero Man and of course the already known banger Focus. That said the other two tracks in the 4 tracked EP are great but for me those two are my particular favourite in the EP.

Be sure to watch this space – and expect big things from these boys.
