Who is JSMN?

JSMN.

Born Christian Berishaj, better known by his stage name JMSN (pronounced Jameson). Is American singer-songwriter and record producer from Michigan. JSMN is multi-talented musician, with three released albums; his debut album Priscilla 2012, the sophomore JSMN 2014, and his third album It is. 2016.

JSMN struggled to define himself in the early stages of his career, under the name of Christian TV he was unnoticed and didn't progress at all. It wasn't until, he left Universal Mowtown Records and started his own label, White Room Records in 2012 and he then released his first album under a new name JSMN. The album is has a uniqueness about it, but it does remind me of The Weeknds debut mixtapes which have now been put together to create the 3 piece album Trilogy. It has that sinister feeling to it, vocals are of high quality, this combined with the eerie drums and foggy atmospherics are the reason I draw similarities between the two artists. Back then this was a new alternative R&B/ pop- soul vibe that was being explored by a lot of new artists. The song Something and Alone really give you that Weeknd's Wicked Games vibe.

I'd say now with his third album release he has truly created his own identity, distancing himself from comparisons with the Weeknd. With the album, It is. we get a raw and visceral sound, it hits every chord because it’s coming from a place of authenticity - he has finally found himself.

The album has a vintage yet contemporary feel to it. You can really feel that nostalgic R&B vibe that he just makes sound so fresh.

With so much still left to contribute to the business, we have yet to see or rather hear the best of JSMN.
